She has recently started a project to improve infant and maternal health in India. Trent University awarded her the Spirit of Trent Award in 2015 for her contributions to society. He is a mortgage professional with Dominion Lending Centers’ Clear Trust Mortgages with access to various sources of funding from big banks, monolines and private lenders. Murzban is a licensed mortgage broker with certification from University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business. He is also Commerce graduate, has an MBA with specialization in finance from Australia and is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He has had an extensive career in Corporate Finance & Accounting in senior management capacity with multinational corporations. He was the Finance Controller or Canada’s largest private post-secondary education group, Head of Finance of GlobeOp Financial Services Pvt. Ltd and Head of Finance of Yahoo in India. An event led her to go the entrepreneurial route, a decision she’s very happy to have taken. Lorelei will share her story about this journey as an independent distributor of a personal franchise system in the whole-food nutrition and wellness space, being marketed in 60 countries and discuss opportunities available to our members wishing to pursue this either full-time or on a part-time basis and create residual income. As an independent distributor, Lorelei’s business excelled quickly qualifying her for the Company’s free Mercedes Benz program in just 5 months. The meeting was called to order at 1:30 pm and chaired by Firdosh Mehta. Firdosh recapped the previous meeting issues and invited younger members Kayras Irani, Aubtin Yazdgardian and Farah Mistry, to introduce and present gifts of appreciation to the speakers. 1:45 PM Presentation by Dr. Farah Shroff, PhD. She talked about how Shroff Consulting emerged around the time of birth of her son Zubin, and how working from home as a mother helped care for her children, as well as consulting and part time university professor. We heard about the benefits of being self-employed and the rewards of self-marketing, as well as how to cope with the challenges of the feast and famine days in life. He started his career on the seas at the age of 17 as a cadet/apprentice on board a training ship. At 30 years of age, he got his Masters license and got his first command on board a cargo ship in France. Over the next 6 years he commanded over various types of ocean going ships like Bulk Carriers, Container ships. He later moved to a shore based job as a marine surveyor in Bombay working for Ericson & Richards and three years later was appointed as an Executive Director with Pandi Correspondents Pvt. Limited representing 6 international shipping insurance companies. He immigrated to Canada in 2001 with his family and worked briefly with BC Ferries as Chief Officer/Master on the central coast of BC before joining Transport Canada Marine Safety in 2004.
